Founded in Épernay more than a century ago, the Maison Charles Ellner is classified NM that is Negociant Manipulant, because, in addition to owning 50 hectares of vines in the most important denominations, the company buys part of the grapes from trusted farmers. All the cuvées spend four to twelve years in the cellar before being marketed and do not undergo malolactic fermentation to preserve their varietal freshness. The company, now led by the third, fourth and fifth generation of the Ellner family, produces a range of classic and prestigious Champagnes.
Champagne Charles Ellner Rose Brut is made with a blend of Chardonnay (50%) and Pinot Noir (50%) grapes.
Its color is light pink with shades of cherry. On the nose, the wine reveals delicious aromas of wild berries such as red currant, strawberry, and raspberry. The aromatic profile is overall very pleasant and enriched on the finish by notes of berries and undergrowth. On the palate, the wine has a good concentration of fresh red fruit flavors, especially raspberry. It is fresh, thirst-quenching, and with a marked acid note. The perlage is fine and persistent. It is excellent on its own as an aperitif, but it pairs deliciously with salmon.
