Champagne Ch. de l’Auche is a wine cooperative founded in the early 1960s near Reims by seven local winegrowers. Today, the vineyards belonging to the 60 current members cover over 110 hectares.
This Brut Nature is a blend dominated by Pinot Meunier, with smaller amounts of Pinot Noir. The grapes are sourced from the estate’s vineyards, which are scattered across the commune of Janvry in the Montagne de Reims region, on the left bank of the Vesle River. Here, the presence of bodies of water and wooded areas creates unique microclimatic conditions, offering protection against frost. The soils differ slightly from the rest of the region, featuring a partially sandy subsoil. Following vinification, the wine ages on the lees for three and a half years, followed by another six months of rest after disgorgement (with no dosage).
In the glass, the wine reveals a bright, pale color with golden-yellow hues. Its aromatic profile is broad and generous, featuring ripe notes of citrus, peach, and pear, followed by hints of sweet spices. On the palate, it is lively, fresh, dynamic, and balanced. It boasts pronounced acidity and excellent mouthfeel. The finish is long, combining citrus notes with saline touches. It is an immediate, pure, and refined wine that works well as an aperitif and pairs beautifully with shellfish, sushi, and seafood carpaccio.
