What makes Pinot Noir suitable for organic production?

The sensitivity of pinot noir’s to its environment makes it particularly appropriate for organic production that emphasizes the health of the soil and ecological equilibrium. Vineyard ecosystem is a healthier one and vines are more powerful with organic practices, e.g. avoiding synthetic pesticides and fertilizers. This method can therefore improve the terroir’s expression of grape, hopefully leading to wine with more complexity and character. Nevertheless, growing Pinot Noir organically is quite demanding as the varietal is extremely susceptible to pests and diseases, requiring quite skilful vineyard management.
