Is Syrah light or heavy?

Syrah, which some regions refer to as Shiraz, is usually associated with full-bodied wines. Syrah grapes originating from Rhône Valley in France usually produce wines characterized by very strong flavors of dark fruits, pepper, and spices, and often with high tannins and also moderate acidity. Though they can differ slightly as a result of winemaking practices and the terroir, Syrah wines are characterized by their bold and full-bodied nature, which makes them perfect to drink with rich flavors.
