Is Chardonnay Dry or Sweet?

Chardonnay wines are generally dry, with fruity and sometimes buttery or creamy qualities. Still, sweetness levels are determined by the ripeness of grapes at harvest, and other vinification techniques such as oak aging and malolactic fermentation can also alter them. In general, a few Chardonnay wines may possess some sweetness; however, the majority of them are loved for their dry and balanced nature.
