How does vine age affect Pinot Noir wine?

With age, the yield of the Pinot Noir vines reduce, but the quality of the fruit increases. On the other hand, older vines have deeper root systems that can access nutrients and water from deeper down, leading to more intricate and concentrated flavors in the grapes. Old vine wines have more depth, complexity and intensity of flavor, and a stronger expression of terroir. Older vines therefore tolerate the conditions of the region and produce a lower yield of about similar quality due to the age ranging between sixty and hundred years. Hence the meaning that wines become rare and popular for the unique characteristics that vine age gives.
