Can Syrah wines be aged for extended periods?

Syrah wines, particularly those from top regions and made by accomplished wine-makers, have the requisite structure and acidity for aging. Properly stored, which includes stable temperature and humidity, for many Syrah wines this wine may develop in the bottle and improve for ten or more years. At that time, tannins of the wine are becoming softer, secondary and tertiary aromas start to appear and the whole profile becomes more harmonious and integrated.
