What is the difference between Amarone and Valpolicella?

Both Amarone and Valpolicella come from the same region in Italy, but they are made completely differently and as such, they have little in common other than the name of the region. Amarone is made from partially dried grapes and produces a firm and full-bodied wine with concentrated flavors of dried fruits, chocolate, and spices. The fact of it having higher alcohol content and aging potential is one of its advantages. However, Valpolicella is lighter, fresher, and fruitier, a wine type produced from unoaked grapes. It presents a more friendly style with a cherry, raspberry touch and floral suggestions.
