What is Amarone wine?

Amarone wine comes from the Veneto region of Italy and is made by a special appassimento method where the grapes, which are usually the Corvina, Rondinella, and Molinara varieties, are partially dried before being fermented. This process is focusing the sugars and the flavors which results in a strong wine with characters of dried fruit, spices, and chocolate. Amarone is famous for its high alcohol level, velvj like texture, and long life.
