Can Malbec wine be used for blending?

Although Malbec is renowned as a varietal wine, it is also applied as a blending element in Bordeaux-style blends in regions such as Bordeaux and the New World. Consequently in these blends Malbec provides colour, tannin structure and fruitiness that in turn leads to the further complexity and balance of the wine. Though, in the varietal form alone, Malbec has become very popular and appreciated relatively recently.
