There are many names to look out for in your journey through the wines of Ribera del Duero, but few hold more weight than Pérez Pascua, the family behind Vina Pedrosa. Brothers Benjamin, Manuel and Adolfo have played their part in transforming the sleepy town of Pedroso into one of Northern Spain’s most vital wine locations.

The Tempranillo for this Reserva wine is sourced from 30-35-year-old vines, which are almost as old as the winery itself. At Vina Pedrosa, every grape is carefully harvested by hand, and an emphasis is placed on low yields, to obtain beautifully balanced, highly focused fruits.

Bursting with scents of dense, ripe fruit, vigorous herbs, menthol, spice and coffee, this Reserva is one for your collection. It shows powerful, pleasant tannins on the palate, wonderfully round fruit flavours, and balanced acidity, all with a steely undercurrent of minerality. Vina Pedrosa’s Reserva has already spent 2 years ageing in the barrel, and a further year in the bottle before release, priming it for your enjoyment. However, it has plenty of potential for further ageing in the cellar. This is an iconic taste of Pedrosa del Duero. Consider pairing it with grilled meats, such as lamb, beef or pork.
