The Argentinean winery Viña Cobos was founded in 1997 by Californian winemaker Paul Hobbs, along with Andrea Marchiori and Luis Barraud, inspired by the viticultural potential of Mendoza and the Malbec grape variety. Thanks to careful vineyard selection, the use of robust varietals, and base yields, the winery quickly gained international recognition for its excellent wines.
The Cabernet Sauvignon grapes are hand-picked from the Lujan de Cuyo subregion. In this area, particularly suited to quality viticulture, the vineyards benefit from an altitude ranging from 980 to 1,050 meters, a semi-desert climate, and gravelly soils. After vinification, the finished wine ages for a year and a half in oak barrels (a quarter of which are new) before bottling.
Bramare Lujan de Cuyo Cabernet Sauvignon has a brilliant, dark ruby color with hints of purple. Its aromatic profile is intense and expressive, with notes of black fruit, spices, and pink pepper. On the palate, it is powerful and well-structured, round and concentrated, with smooth tannins and a well-balanced, refreshing acidity. The finish is long and recalls spicy notes. It is the ideal wine to pair with fillet steak with black pepper, tagliatelle with porcini mushrooms, and roast leg of lamb.
