Founded in 1997 by a trio of talented wine-makers, Vilafonté winery produces some of South Africa's highest-quality wines. It is located in the Simonsberg Mountains, an appellation with a bona fide claim to fame. The oldest soil in the world can be found here, providing an ancient foundation for stellar vines.
Vilafonté grapes are sourced exclusively from vineyards owned by the winery. Early in the winery’s life, wine-maker Zelma Long realised that their vineyards gave rise to two different styles of Bordeaux blend- the first was big and powerful, giving rise to Series M. The second was smoother, juicy and well-rounded - this is Series C.
Series C is a playful blend, a mixture of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Malbec and Cabernet Franc. While it is dry and full-bodied, it shows definite hints of sweetness in its profile. The nose is packed with dark fruits, cassis, black cherries and plum. A mouthful will reveal similar fruits, with deeper notes of cedar, liquorice and a green botanical edge. The wine spent almost two years ageing in French oak barriques and has plenty of time to develop further in the bottle. Series C will be great company for rarer birds, such as duck, or rich tomato-based dishes.

overall i had a positive experience, they have a wide range of wines, some which are hard to find anywhere else - the main reason i still buy from them, plus the discounts are fair and often, but... their codes for the first offer only works at the first offer, which if fine, but then why would you send me the voucher in each package i order, why spam me on the email and every time i log in on the website? this is really bothering me... then their rewards points system is useless, first of all because you only get peanuts even after spending €250 on an order, but even those peanuts will expire if you won't order again soon, which is unfair, to say the least... and lastly, if you get a corked wine, a wine with any deffect or a wine that leaked (my last order contained a bottle of $100 Caymus Cabernet with a leaking cork, which made the wine tasted cooked and flat), they have no procedure put in place for you to replace or return the wine or to get a refund or replacement - none, which is a big no no no for any wine collector... so all in all i give it 3 stars for now
