Created in 1999 by Sara Pérez and René Barbier as their personal project, Venus Universal is a small wine estate in the DO Montsant that extends over approximately 4 hectares of vineyards and also collaborates with local cooperatives. The company produces its wines from organically grown grapes and carries on a philosophy of total respect for the environment.
The wine is made with Garnacha grapes sourced from the village of La Figuera, in the Guixà parcel, at about 600 meters above sea level, on white clay and limestone soils. The soil and climate conditions favor the production of a very elegant wine with a well-balanced structure and a strong acidity. Fermentation takes place in open barrels and after a period of maceration, the finished wine rests for 18 months in ceramic jars.
Venus La Figuera is a succulent and fragrant red wine that reveals a broad bouquet of floral and fruity notes on the nose followed by balsamic and mineral hints. On the palate, it is fresh and juicy, lively and fruity. It has a medium body and a strong acid streak. The finish is long and recalls mineral notes. Try it with lamb stew, mac and cheese, or spicy pork ribs.

overall i had a positive experience, they have a wide range of wines, some which are hard to find anywhere else - the main reason i still buy from them, plus the discounts are fair and often, but... their codes for the first offer only works at the first offer, which if fine, but then why would you send me the voucher in each package i order, why spam me on the email and every time i log in on the website? this is really bothering me... then their rewards points system is useless, first of all because you only get peanuts even after spending €250 on an order, but even those peanuts will expire if you won't order again soon, which is unfair, to say the least... and lastly, if you get a corked wine, a wine with any deffect or a wine that leaked (my last order contained a bottle of $100 Caymus Cabernet with a leaking cork, which made the wine tasted cooked and flat), they have no procedure put in place for you to replace or return the wine or to get a refund or replacement - none, which is a big no no no for any wine collector... so all in all i give it 3 stars for now
