As soon as you open this bottle you’ll be charmed by the seductive ruby red hue and the captivating aromas of blackberries, red cherries and rose petals. The first sip reveals succulent wild berries, hints of graphite and earthy, herbal undertones which combine harmoniously with the robust tannins and generous full body. This robust and versatile Sangiovese is an ideal match for typical local Emilia Romagna dishes like cured meats, fresh ravioli served with a tomato-based sauce or wild game.

The Tre Monti estate dates back to 1974 when Sergio Navacchia and his wife Thea took the decision to start a winery close to the town of Faenza. Over the years the couple’s two sons, David and Vittorio, also joined the family business. Today the family is passionate about protecting and respecting the land which enables them to make delicious wines and all of their wines are certified as organic.

The grapes for the Petrignone come from the family’s namesake vineyard which sits on a terrace facing south. The soil here is dominated by small pebbles and plenty of clay which makes it well-draining, but also helps to retain water for when the vines need it. After harvesting, the grapes destined for the Petrignone are carefully selected and vinified before spending 8 months maturing in French oak barrels.
