Founded by David Powell in 1994 in the Barossa Valley, Torbreck Vintners quickly achieved international fame thanks to its excellent production of high-quality Rhone-style red and white wines. The company, which also owns some of the oldest Shiraz vines in the world, takes its name from a Scottish forest near Inverness, where its founder worked as a lumberjack.

Shiraz grapes are hand-picked from a selection of different vineyards located in the Barossa (including Marananga, Greenock, Gomersal, Seppeltsfield, and Moppa). After harvesting and vinification according to traditional practices, the finished wine rests in French oak barrels for approximately 10 months.

Torbreck Woodcutter's Shiraz is an elegant and deep wine that reveals an intense and brilliant garnet red color in the glass. Its aromatic profile is rich and ripe, with predominant notes of red and dark fruits (blueberry, cherry, cassis, and blackberry) over a delicate background of spices. On the palate, it is soft, rounded, and full-bodied, with smooth tannins and a well-balanced acidity. It is concentrated and voluptuous, with a long finish that recalls spicy notes. Try it with short ribs, beef fillet, or herb-roasted lamb.
