This is a Cabernet Sauvignon-dominated blend with class and tension, bursting with rich fruit notes of cherry, cassis, dried fig, and plum. Underneath the fruit core, you can also discover hints of fresh leather, vanilla, cinnamon, and black tea leaves, which expand as the wine airs. It is made from 81% Cabernet, 7.5% of Petit Verdot, 7% Merlot, and a final 4.5% of Malbec, all plucked from a selection of Titus-owned vineyards near Sonoma, California.
The winery takes its name from its founder, Dr. Lee Titus, a radiologist who purchased some Napa Valley land in 1968. Titus Vineyards began by supplying fruits to winemakers across Napa Valley, before Lee’s two sons, Eric and Philip, began to craft wine under the family name. They are still at the helm today, with Philip working as Director of Winemaking, while Eric manages the vineyards and the winery.
On the palate, this is a luxurious and mouth-filling red wine, with a sharp, mineral-rich edge. You can find notes of blackberry, plum, and blackcurrant, mingling with classic undertones of vanilla, mocha, wet earth, and pencil shavings, from the portion of Petit Verdot. Chewy tannins and a dose of fresh acidity give it a marvellous structure, suitable for long-term ageing. Consider pairing this Cabernet Sauvignon with a steak, mature cheddar, or eggplant Parmesan.
