Located in the city of Lanciego, Bodega Lanzaga is part of the Compañía de Vinos Telmo Rodriguez. The group was initially founded in 1994 and following a rapid expansion in the late 1990s, Telmo Rodriguez and his partners found some ideal plots for the production of Rioja wine. Today Bodega Lanzaga extends over approximately 15 hectares of land and cultivates its vineyards organically.

The wine is a blend of Tempranillo, Graciano, and Garnacha grapes harvested manually from organically grown bush-vines located at an altitude between 500 and 700 meters on sandy soils with sandstone. Fermentation takes place spontaneously with indigenous yeasts and the finished wine rests for 14 months in wood.

The wine reveals an extremely broad and complex aromatic profile. There are intense aromas of black cherry, currant, and mulberry and then aromatic herbs, licorice, and hints of chocolate. On the palate, it is deep and concentrated with a marked mineral vein and a lively acidity. The tannins are firm but perfectly ripe. The finish is long, pleasant, and persistent and recalls notes of black cherry again. Try it with lamb, roasted red meat, game birds, or aged Manchego cheese.
