Located in the Stellenbosch wine region, on the slopes of Mount Helderberg, the Taaibosch estate, formerly known as Cordoba, covers 59 hectares at an altitude of approximately 300 meters above sea level. Here the vineyards enjoy a unique position and a fresh sea breeze which creates the ideal conditions for the cultivation of Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. The vines are grown following practices focused on sustainability and the vineyards are in the process of converting to organic farming. In the cellar, winemaker Schalk-Willem Joubert follows a traditional approach to winemaking.
The Crescendo by Taaibosch is a blend with a majority of Cabernet Franc, with additions of Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. The grapes are selected from vines that are about 20 years old. The finished wine matures in French oak for 12 months, followed by 1 year in foudres and cement.
The wine shows the fragrant character of Cabernet Franc with aromas of red berries, wild strawberries, and blackberries, followed by aromatic herbs, spices, and sweet pepper scents. On the palate, it is lean and harmonious with a good body and an elegant, fresh finish. It works perfectly with grilled lamb seasoned with Mediterranean herbs.
