Sunrock is blessed with one of the finest terroirs in the Okanagan Valley thanks to the large granite outcrop which sits above the rolling hills of vines and gives the 180 acre estate its name. Thanks to the arid desert-like conditions, south-facing slopes and slow release of heat from the granite rock which helps to extend the growing season, the terroir here is ideal for crafting powerful red wines from grapes like Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon.

The fruit for this robust Cabernet is harvested when it reaches perfect ripeness in mid-October and then gently crushed and fermented in stainless steel tanks. The young wine is then matured in a combination of French and American oak barrels for 16 months.

Luscious dark cherries, plums and wild berries define the nose with the palate offering intense dark fruit flavours like cassis, blackberry and mulberry along with hints of dried herbs, vanilla and winter spice. The full body is complemented by well-developed tannins, a firm structure and a very long finish which make this a great wine to keep in the cellar for a few more years. Those who wish to enjoy it sooner can pair this powerful red with hearty red meat dishes like beef stews, steak or venison or even aubergine parmigiana.
