A Birthday to Remember with DAOU & Colomé Celebrating my mother’s birthday was made even more special thanks to two incredible wines—DAOU Cabernet Sauvignon 2021 and Colomé Auténtico Malbec 2020. The star of the evening was undoubtedly the DAOU Cabernet Sauvignon. From the first sip, it enveloped us in its rich, velvety embrace. The deep dark fruit flavors, hints of cocoa, and perfectly balanced oak made every glass feel like a true indulgence. It was bold yet elegant, a wine that effortlessly brought warmth and joy to our gathering. Seeing my mother savor each sip with a smile made it all the more memorable. The Colomé Auténtico Malbec also delivered beautifully, with its pure expression of high-altitude Malbec. It was powerful, with ripe blackberries, spice, and a smooth, lingering finish—an excellent complement to the evening. These wines didn’t just enhance our meal; they became part of the celebration, elevating every toast and conversation. A heartfelt thank you to DAOU and Colomé for making this special occasion truly unforgettable!

    Located on a natural site with a long winemaking history, Sonberk is one of the most interesting wineries in the Czech Republic, founded in 2003 with the aim of cultivating high-quality grapes for the production of exceptional wines. Since 2008, the company has built its own cellar, where it carries out all the winemaking processes. The building was designed by the great architect Josef Pleskot, in collaboration with the winemaker Oldřich Drápal, in total respect of the surrounding landscape and with technological structures that guarantee the possibility of working the grapes in the most natural way possible.

    Even in the vineyard, Sonberk carries on a philosophy of sustainability, with manual practices and total respect for the characteristics of the different vines.

    Sonberk Pálava dry is a golden-colored wine. On the nose, it reveals heady and intense aromas of tropical flowers and lychee, with notes of melon and touches of sweet spices. On the palate, it is fresh and delicate, elegant and subtle. There are fresh citrus and light spicy flavors. The acidity is well-balanced and the finish is long and lean. Perfect as an aperitif, this wine also pairs very well with lightly spiced Asian cuisine, fresh fruit desserts, and blue cheeses.
