Domaine Skouras is a Greek winery producing a range of wines from some local grape varieties such as Agiorgitiko and international varieties such as Cabernet Sauvignon. Founded in 1986, it is based in the Peloponnese peninsula, in the Nemea area.
The Peplo High Elevation Rose is a blend of 1/3 Agiorgitiko, 1/3 Syrah, and 1/3 Mavrofilero. The Agiorgitiko grapes come from 24 years vines on clay soil at an 850m altitude. The Syrah grapes come from 19 years old vines located in Argolida on rocky soil. And the Mavrofilero grapes come from 26 years old vines on sandy soil at a 650m altitude. The grapes are aged separately: the Syrah on its fine lees in stainless steel tanks, the Agiorgitiko in acacia barrels, while the Mavrofilero matures with the contact of the skins in amphorae in contact with the skins for four months. The name of the wine comes from the fabric used inside the amphorae to help separate the wine from the skins.
The color is a pale coral. The wine is fresh and fragrant on the nose with aromas of strawberry, rose petals, orange blossom and citrus notes of lemon and grapefruit. In the mouth, there are mineral notes and good acidity. It is crisp and well structured with a medium body, and its flavors are consistent with the aromatic profile. This delicious rosé is a perfect companion to shellfish, chicken, turkey, and vegetarian preparations such as ratatouille or Parmesan aubergines.
