Still little known outside of its homeland, the Pecorino grape has been grown in the central Italian regions of Marche and Abruzzo for centuries. The variety was nearly lost to extinction during the 1980s, but luckily some vines were found growing wild and local producers have been able to reintroduce Pecorino throughout its traditional heartlands.

San Lorenzo was founded in 1890 and it is now in the capable hands of Natalino Crognaletti who represents the third generation of the family to make wine on the estate. Natalino farms the family’s 150 hectares in accordance with organic and biodynamic principles to produce the very finest raw ingredients possible.

Natalino’s Il Pecorino is vinified in stainless steel tanks to preserve the freshness and pure varietal character of the grape. On the nose there are uplifting aromas of lemon zest, honeysuckle and white peach while the first sip reveals a mouthwatering freshness, light body, and stone fruit and citrus flavours which linger on the tongue. The vibrancy of this wine makes it an excellent choice for a summer aperitif or to serve with fresh seafood, a fragrant Bouillabaisse, or spicy Asian salads and curries.
