This wine is a deep scarlet in the glass, with shades of blue. It opens with a bouquet of ripe hedgerow berries, sweet and spicy balsamic vinegar, and hints of cedar. It is a product of Uco Valley’s high-altitude vineyards, composed of 70% Malbec, 10% each of Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot from Gualtallary, and 10% Merlot from Altamira.
Bodega Rutini has been part of the Upper Uco Valley landscape since the late 1800s, fashioning a place in the hearts and minds of the world with its stunning range of Argentinian wine. The wine-making team at Rutini is spearheaded by Mariano Di Paola, a vintner who likes to forge his own path through experimentation. It is no longer a family-owned winery, but the spirit of 19th-century founder Felipe Rutini remains strong here.
This Malbec-dominated blend from the Antologia line is a lengthy, round wine, with silky tannins and a healthy dose of acidity. It is undeniably juicy in the mouth, with ripe flavours of Morello cherry, blackberry, and mint. Hints of baking spice and dark chocolate slowly reveal themselves as the wine evolves. It is a complex, nuanced bottle, with a lot of cellaring potential. Enjoy it with wild game, grilled red meats, or a charcuterie board.
Pas de problème particulier.
