Located not far from Telavi, the capital of Georgia's renowned Kakheti wine region, Rtvelisi is a winery with a history spanning over a century. The estate's vineyards cover approximately 250 hectares, primarily in Kakheti and other wine-growing areas of the country, planted with indigenous grape varieties such as Saperavi, Rkatsiteli, Kisi, and Kakuri Mtsvane. The winery is widely acclaimed by critics and the public for its award-winning wines, which reflect Georgia's rich viticultural heritage by combining ancient traditions with modern techniques.
Rtvelisi Khvanchkara is a naturally semi-sweet red wine made from an equal blend of indigenous Aleksandrouli and Mujuretuli grapes, sourced from the estate’s vineyards in the Racha-Lechkhumi wine region.
In the glass, the wine reveals a brilliant, pale ruby color. Its aromatic profile is expressive and broad, with notes of raspberry, wild strawberry, and pomegranate intertwined with subtle hints of almond and caramel, against a smoky undertone. On the palate, it is soft and round, with a fresh acidity that balances the fruity concentration. It is juicy with a long, sweetish finish. It is a delicate and elegant semi-sweet wine that pairs well with red fruit desserts, raspberry cheesecake, pecan pie, or soft cheeses. Serve it slightly chilled.
