Ridge Vineyards is one of the great advocates for single-vineyard wine-making in California. The winery’s story begins at the end of the 19th century, when Osea Perrone transformed a stretch of land at the top of Monte Bello Ridge, near San Francisco. However, almost 100 years passed before the production of the first Zinfandel - an intense, full-blooded wine that would lay the foundation for the rest.
This Zinfandel was harvested from the Pagani Ranch vineyard, in the cool terroir of Sonoma Valley. It is made from 90% Zinfandel, with small amounts of Petite Sirah and Alicante Bouschet. It begins with a rich bouquet of red and blue fruits. As the wine opens up, you can also discover supporting scents of chocolate, tobacco, and baking spice.
These flavours carry through to the palate, where silky tannins and fresh acidity combine for a velvety yet full-bodied mouthfeel. You can find plenty of spice, along with strong notes of blueberry, ripe cherry and cassis. Hints of eucalyptus and oak appear on the finish. It is a perfect companion for rich, meaty dishes such as steak frites, braised beef, or barbecue.

overall i had a positive experience, they have a wide range of wines, some which are hard to find anywhere else - the main reason i still buy from them, plus the discounts are fair and often, but... their codes for the first offer only works at the first offer, which if fine, but then why would you send me the voucher in each package i order, why spam me on the email and every time i log in on the website? this is really bothering me... then their rewards points system is useless, first of all because you only get peanuts even after spending €250 on an order, but even those peanuts will expire if you won't order again soon, which is unfair, to say the least... and lastly, if you get a corked wine, a wine with any deffect or a wine that leaked (my last order contained a bottle of $100 Caymus Cabernet with a leaking cork, which made the wine tasted cooked and flat), they have no procedure put in place for you to replace or return the wine or to get a refund or replacement - none, which is a big no no no for any wine collector... so all in all i give it 3 stars for now
