Casa Pirque was created by the union of the Menéndez Ross and Catena Zapata families initially to handle the importation of Domaines Barons de Rothschild (Lafite), Antinori, Opus One, Royal Tokaji, Vega Sicilia and the Catena family-owned wineries. Today the company has expanded its portfolio and also produces wines in Mendoza and Patagonia, with Ribera del Cuarzo being it’s most signature property there.
Ribera del Cuarzo Especial Malbec is an elegant wine made from Malbec grapes from 5 ha Araucana vineyard. The vines rest on Calcareous soil, after manual harvesting, cold maceration for two days, and fermentation, the finished wine rests in barrels of one or two passages for nine months, and then for a further 12 months in the bottle. The result is a characterful and distinctive wine that reflects all the uniqueness of its terroir of origin.
In the glass, the wine reveals an intense color of dark red tones with purple reflections. On the nose, it opens with notes of ripe red fruits followed by aromas of wild herbs and toasted wood. On the palate, it is smooth, full-bodied, and soft with velvety tannins and a fresh acidic vein that balances the taste. The finish is long and recalls delicate woody notes. Excellent with beef fillet and steak.

overall i had a positive experience, they have a wide range of wines, some which are hard to find anywhere else - the main reason i still buy from them, plus the discounts are fair and often, but... their codes for the first offer only works at the first offer, which if fine, but then why would you send me the voucher in each package i order, why spam me on the email and every time i log in on the website? this is really bothering me... then their rewards points system is useless, first of all because you only get peanuts even after spending €250 on an order, but even those peanuts will expire if you won't order again soon, which is unfair, to say the least... and lastly, if you get a corked wine, a wine with any deffect or a wine that leaked (my last order contained a bottle of $100 Caymus Cabernet with a leaking cork, which made the wine tasted cooked and flat), they have no procedure put in place for you to replace or return the wine or to get a refund or replacement - none, which is a big no no no for any wine collector... so all in all i give it 3 stars for now
