A historic cooperative winery in Piedmont, Produttori del Barbaresco was founded in 1958 by Don Fiorino Marengo, building on the work of Domizio Cavazza, who had already begun the project in the late 19th century. Today, it comprises approximately 50 families.
The Nebbiolo grapes come from a 4.5-hectare vineyard in the Rio Sordo Cru. Here, the vines enjoy southwest exposure and are rooted in clay-limestone soils with sandy veins. After harvest, fermentation takes place in stainless steel, followed by a period of maceration on the skins. The finished wine then ages first in oak barrels for 30 months and finally for another 9 months in the bottle before release.
In the glass, the Barbaresco Riserva Rio Sordo from Produttori di Barbaresco reveals a luminous ruby color with garnet highlights. Its aromatic profile is broad and complex, with initial fruity notes of black cherry, blackcurrant, and plum, followed by floral, balsamic, and spicy notes on a background of licorice and tobacco. On the palate, it is mature, rounded, and full-bodied. It has all the elegance of the finest examples of Nebbiolo. It is concentrated, enveloping, and smooth, with well-balanced tannins and a long finish. It is a wine capable of aging beautifully for a couple of decades, but also approachable right away. Try it with tagliatelle with porcini mushrooms or red meat stews.

overall i had a positive experience, they have a wide range of wines, some which are hard to find anywhere else - the main reason i still buy from them, plus the discounts are fair and often, but... their codes for the first offer only works at the first offer, which if fine, but then why would you send me the voucher in each package i order, why spam me on the email and every time i log in on the website? this is really bothering me... then their rewards points system is useless, first of all because you only get peanuts even after spending €250 on an order, but even those peanuts will expire if you won't order again soon, which is unfair, to say the least... and lastly, if you get a corked wine, a wine with any deffect or a wine that leaked (my last order contained a bottle of $100 Caymus Cabernet with a leaking cork, which made the wine tasted cooked and flat), they have no procedure put in place for you to replace or return the wine or to get a refund or replacement - none, which is a big no no no for any wine collector... so all in all i give it 3 stars for now
