Cellar for up to 15 years. Decant for up to an hour before serving.

Pisano’s RPF is a vivid burgundy colour in the glass, with deep purple hues. It exhibits rich aromas of chocolate, tobacco smoke and spice, all trailing behind a medley of red and black fruits. “RDF” refers to the first letters of “Reserva Personal de la Familia’, because at first, this wine was reserved for family consumption only. As we can see, the secret got out. This Tannat wine is too good to be hidden behind closed doors.

Pisano is a family winery, located in the region of Progreso, the wine-producing soul of Uruguay. A note for the uninitiated: the Tannat grape is as important to Uruguay’s wine production as the Malbec grape is to Argentina. It is the country’s pride and joy, and an essential starting point for anybody looking to explore Uruguayan wine. This wine was sourced from a 30-hectare plot, growing on calcareous clay soils.

RPF begins with a generous palate, giving us strong flavours of blackberry, raspberry, and plum. These are supported by accents of hot chocolate, spice, cedar, and woodsmoke. It is elegant and dry, with mouth-coating tannins and a vein of vibrant acidity. On the long finish, woody tannins come to the fore. This is a brilliant wine for pairing with Mexican food, red meats cooked in Uruguayan style, or tomato-rich pasta sauce.
