The history of the Pierre Amadieu winery began in 1929. At the time, the company had 7 hectares of vineyards available, which had belonged to his family for several generations. In the 1950s, Pierre decided to expand the estate and acquire the Romane and La Manchotte vineyards, making the family business the largest in Gigondas. In the 1970s, his sons Claude and Jean-Pierre joined the winery and continued to expand the business.
This Gigondas rosé is produced with 60% Grenache noir, 15% Syrah, 15% Cinsault and 10% Mourvèdre. The grapes come from vineyards with an average age of 45 years, located on the slopes of the family property, on soils composed of an alternation of calcareous and cretaceous marls, with North-West exposure at an altitude of 300 m. After a manual harvest, fermentation takes place at a low temperature to preserve the typical fruity aromas of these grape varieties. The blend is then assembled and finally aged for 4 months in 1 to 2-year barrels.
The wine has a bright and lively pink color. The aromatic profile is rich and fresh with delicious notes of raspberry, wild strawberries, white pulp fruits, and delicate floral scents. On the palate, the wine is round and dense with a long and sweet finish. This is a high-quality rosé the has enough depth and consistency to accompany an entire meal, but its ideal partner is pork.
