PerSe Iubileus Gualtallary 2022

Located in the promising sub-appellation of Gualtallary, in the Uco Valley, PerSe is an Argentine winery established in 2012 by the two winemakers and friends Edy Del Popolo and David Bonomi, now joined by Edy's son, Santiago. All their wines come from vineyards located at about 1500 meters above sea level and worked organically (without certification).

The Malbec grapes are sourced from the Iubileus parcel located on Mount Alabanza, on the northern slope of Monastery Hill. Here the vines, planted in 2013, enjoy cool southwest winds, which run along the nearby central path, and soils composed of limestone deposits. After harvesting and vinification at low temperatures, the finished wine rests for 16 months in used barrels before being bottled without filtration.

In the glass, the wine reveals an intense color and a mature, and expressive aromatic profile with notes of cassis, blueberry, and forest berries, followed by floral and aromatic herbal hints. On the palate, it is concentrated and tense with a medium body and a clear mineral vein. It has very fine-grained tannins with a well-balanced acidity and a long finish with savory touches. Have it with a nice juicy steak.
