This is a full-bodied, 100% Cabernet Sauvignon wine, made with grapes from Australia’s Coonawarra region. It opens up with a rich bouquet of black hedgerow berries and dark, ripe fruits, with undertones of green herbs, oak, wet stone, and purple flowers. It is an extremely highly rated wine at this price point, and a must-have for anyone who enjoys Cabernet.
The Penley estate is part of the same family tree as the famous Penfolds wine company. In 1988, the winery was founded by the children of Reginald Lester Tolley and Judith Anne Penfold Hyland, both heirs to prestigious family wineries in the south of Australia. These days, it is spearheaded by Kate Goodman, one of Australia’s most exciting contemporary winemakers.
The Phoenix Cabernet Sauvignon is a wild, full-blooded affair, with notes of blackberry, cherry, fresh eucalyptus, black pepper and iron. Clear hints of spice come to the forefront as the wine opens up. Silky tannins dry the palate with each sip, and clean acidity elevates the entire experience. It was matured for 12 months before release, in a combination of 70% French oak and 30% stainless steel. This is a great wine for pairing with barbecued meats, roasted vegetables, or aged cheese.

overall i had a positive experience, they have a wide range of wines, some which are hard to find anywhere else - the main reason i still buy from them, plus the discounts are fair and often, but... their codes for the first offer only works at the first offer, which if fine, but then why would you send me the voucher in each package i order, why spam me on the email and every time i log in on the website? this is really bothering me... then their rewards points system is useless, first of all because you only get peanuts even after spending €250 on an order, but even those peanuts will expire if you won't order again soon, which is unfair, to say the least... and lastly, if you get a corked wine, a wine with any deffect or a wine that leaked (my last order contained a bottle of $100 Caymus Cabernet with a leaking cork, which made the wine tasted cooked and flat), they have no procedure put in place for you to replace or return the wine or to get a refund or replacement - none, which is a big no no no for any wine collector... so all in all i give it 3 stars for now
