For some 150 years Penfolds has enjoyed a reputation as one of Australia’s premier wineries, and now their winemaking team is extending that vision to new frontiers. Bin 704 makes a new alliance between viticulture in the northern and southern hemispheres, sourcing Cabernet Sauvignon fruit from prime vineyards in California and applying Penfolds’ signature house style.
Bin 704 was designed to be the mirror image of their Bin 407, their renowned South Australian Cabernet which debuted with the 1990 vintage. The fruit for Bin 704 is sourced from trusted growers in the Napa Valley. After vinification the young wine ages in French oak barrels, 48% of which are new, to soften the punchy tannins and add polish and complexity.
Luscious dark plum and sweet cherry are first out of the glass, followed by undertones of wild fennel and black liquorice. The solid tannins and powerful structure make this a great partner for hearty winter stews as well as fine steaks and barbecued meats. It’s a great wine to enjoy now alongside food or to keep in the cellar for another decade or so.

overall i had a positive experience, they have a wide range of wines, some which are hard to find anywhere else - the main reason i still buy from them, plus the discounts are fair and often, but... their codes for the first offer only works at the first offer, which if fine, but then why would you send me the voucher in each package i order, why spam me on the email and every time i log in on the website? this is really bothering me... then their rewards points system is useless, first of all because you only get peanuts even after spending €250 on an order, but even those peanuts will expire if you won't order again soon, which is unfair, to say the least... and lastly, if you get a corked wine, a wine with any deffect or a wine that leaked (my last order contained a bottle of $100 Caymus Cabernet with a leaking cork, which made the wine tasted cooked and flat), they have no procedure put in place for you to replace or return the wine or to get a refund or replacement - none, which is a big no no no for any wine collector... so all in all i give it 3 stars for now
