Established in 1991, Paul Hobbs Winery bears the name of its founder, a world-renowned, innovative winemaker. Based in Sebastopol, California, the company produces high-quality wines with meticulous care and minimal intervention, allowing the terroir and grape varieties to express themselves to the fullest.
Made with small additions of Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot, and Merlot, Coombsville Cabernet Sauvignon is one of Paul Hobbs' most iconic and successful wines. The grapes are selected from several vineyards in Coombsville, at the cooler southeastern edge of Napa Valley. Here, the combination of volcanic soils and the proximity to San Pablo Bay favors the production of full-bodied wines with aromatic character and good minerality. After manual harvesting and fermentation with native yeasts in small stainless steel tanks, the finished wine ages in a mix of new and used oak.
In the glass, the wine reveals a deep color with purple hues. Its aromatic profile is broad and intense, with notes of blueberry, blackberry, and cassis, along with aromatic herbs, tobacco leaves, spices, and a hint of rose petals. On the palate, it is vibrant, balanced, and mineral, with a round and smooth texture, a medium body, and solid acidity. The tannins are fine and well-integrated, and the finish is long and tense with a pleasant minerality. It pairs perfectly with herb-roasted lamb or beef tenderloin.

overall i had a positive experience, they have a wide range of wines, some which are hard to find anywhere else - the main reason i still buy from them, plus the discounts are fair and often, but... their codes for the first offer only works at the first offer, which if fine, but then why would you send me the voucher in each package i order, why spam me on the email and every time i log in on the website? this is really bothering me... then their rewards points system is useless, first of all because you only get peanuts even after spending €250 on an order, but even those peanuts will expire if you won't order again soon, which is unfair, to say the least... and lastly, if you get a corked wine, a wine with any deffect or a wine that leaked (my last order contained a bottle of $100 Caymus Cabernet with a leaking cork, which made the wine tasted cooked and flat), they have no procedure put in place for you to replace or return the wine or to get a refund or replacement - none, which is a big no no no for any wine collector... so all in all i give it 3 stars for now
