Founded in 1921 in Piedmont, the Paolo Scavino winery boasts over 100 years of winemaking tradition and is today led by Enrico Scavino, son of Paolo and grandson of the founder, Lorenzo. The estate is located in Castiglione Falletto and extends over approximately 30 hectares of vineyards distributed across small parcels in the area.
The Nebbiolo grapes for Paolo Scavino's Barolo are sourced from various crus distributed in the municipalities of Castiglione Falletto, Serralunga d'Alba, and Barolo. After fermentation, which occurs separately for each parcel, the finished wine ages for approximately 22 months, 10 of which in barriques and 12 in large barrels.
The result is an elegant wine with a clear ruby color and a broad, complex aromatic profile. On the nose, the wine reveals notes of red fruits and wild berries, with mineral and spicy hints. On the palate, it is powerful and rich, balanced, and warm. It has a distinctive character and a well-defined tannic backbone. It is solid and fresh with a long finish that intertwines spicy and wild berry notes. Try it with stewed red meat or aged cheeses.

overall i had a positive experience, they have a wide range of wines, some which are hard to find anywhere else - the main reason i still buy from them, plus the discounts are fair and often, but... their codes for the first offer only works at the first offer, which if fine, but then why would you send me the voucher in each package i order, why spam me on the email and every time i log in on the website? this is really bothering me... then their rewards points system is useless, first of all because you only get peanuts even after spending €250 on an order, but even those peanuts will expire if you won't order again soon, which is unfair, to say the least... and lastly, if you get a corked wine, a wine with any deffect or a wine that leaked (my last order contained a bottle of $100 Caymus Cabernet with a leaking cork, which made the wine tasted cooked and flat), they have no procedure put in place for you to replace or return the wine or to get a refund or replacement - none, which is a big no no no for any wine collector... so all in all i give it 3 stars for now
