Weingut Nigl strives for a balanced Riesling and achieves it beautifully. The nose begins with juicy peach that is so fragrant and natural that you think some peach fuzz will tickle your nose. Subtle fragrances of jasmine bring out a small floral quality. On the palate, the juiciness is balanced by a vibrant acidity. There is a sweetness, but it comes off as more cool or balmy than sugary. The minerality that one comes to expect from the Weingut Nigl wines makes its presence known on the finish and is a balanced accompaniment to the sweetness.

Food pairings to consider are fish and seafood dishes, but most importantly vegetable based dishes. The herbaceous quality of a vegetable dish will be balanced wonderfully by the fruit and subtle sweetness of the wine. However, this is the type of wine that is wonderful on its own on a warm summer day.

Weingut Nigl follows strict environmental practices adopted by their governing bodies and approaches winemaking with a similar philosophy. With the scores consistently increasing over the past few years, this vintage is considered by many to be their best Riesling to date.
