A former wine estate located on the banks of the Danube in Slovakia, the Chateau Bela was taken over by the family of Egon Müller's wife in 1999. Today the company, considered one of the most prestigious in the country, cultivates in the estate's vineyards Riesling, Gewurztraminer and Cabernet Sauvignon grapes among others and also produces straw and ice wine. Winemaking practices are managed by the cellar master Miroslav Petrech with the collaboration of celebrated German winemaker Egon Müller, widely considered the “King of Riesling”. They released their first vintage in 2001.
This dry Rhine-style Riesling is made from selected and late-harvested grapes, sourced in the estate's vineyards in the Muzla wine region of Slovakia. It is a pure and clean wine characterized by the typical traits of Riesling.
The nose reveals a complex and powerful aromatic profile with hints of citrus and fresh herbs, linden flowers, and honey. On the palate, it is lively and extremely harmonious, with a marked acidity, typical of this grape variety, a very well-balanced light residual sugar and a relatively light alcohol content. The finish is fresh and persistent. Serve it well chilled with sauerkraut, goat cheese, and asparagus dishes, or leave it in the cellar for a few years.
