One of the pioneering wineries in the Margaret River region, Moss Wood was founded in 1969 in Wilyabrup. For the past four decades the estate has been in the capable hands of Clare & Keith Mugford whose dedication and attention to detail has produced some of the region’s very finest wines.
Margaret River’s maritime climate and gravelly loam and clay soils are ideally suited for growing Cabernet Sauvignon. The Mugfords have taken inspiration from the wines of the Medoc in Bordeaux which are produced in similar conditions, combining power and depth of flavour with refinement and elegance.
Their classic Moss Wood Cabernet is crafted from hand picked grapes with a small quantity of Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc to add complexity to the cuvee. After fermenting in stainless steel tanks the young wine is transferred to mostly used French oak barrels. The wine is then aged for 31 months to soften the tannins and add subtle spiced and oaky notes to the rich core of dark berry, plum and cherry. The result is a big and beautiful Margaret River Cabernet that is ideal for pairing with hearty red meat dishes or holding in the cellar for another 10-15 years.

overall i had a positive experience, they have a wide range of wines, some which are hard to find anywhere else - the main reason i still buy from them, plus the discounts are fair and often, but... their codes for the first offer only works at the first offer, which if fine, but then why would you send me the voucher in each package i order, why spam me on the email and every time i log in on the website? this is really bothering me... then their rewards points system is useless, first of all because you only get peanuts even after spending €250 on an order, but even those peanuts will expire if you won't order again soon, which is unfair, to say the least... and lastly, if you get a corked wine, a wine with any deffect or a wine that leaked (my last order contained a bottle of $100 Caymus Cabernet with a leaking cork, which made the wine tasted cooked and flat), they have no procedure put in place for you to replace or return the wine or to get a refund or replacement - none, which is a big no no no for any wine collector... so all in all i give it 3 stars for now
