Located in the Traisental valley, Lower Austria, Weingut Markus Huber was founded by Markus in 2000, taking over his parents' 4-hectare vineyard. Since then, Markus has modernized the winery and brought it to prominence through meticulous and precise work, which emphasizes the area's unique terroir.
The Riesling grapes are selected from the Rothenbart terraced vineyard, one of the highest in the valley, located at almost 380 meters above sea level. Here, the organically grown vines are planted in sandy and stony soils, on a substrate of dolomitic limestone with a high iron content, which gives them a reddish color. After harvesting and fermenting in stainless steel, the wine remains on the lees for eight months before bottling.
The result is a characterful wine of exquisite quality and excellent aging potential. On the nose, Ried Rothenbart Erste Lage Riesling reveals a fresh and vibrant aromatic profile with notes of green apple, lime zest, and grapefruit, followed by mineral notes. On the palate, it is light and delicate, taut and concentrated, with a lean character and lively acidity. It has a medium body and vibrant freshness. It is fruity with a long, mineral finish. It is the ideal wine for asparagus dishes, vegetarian recipes, and fish.

overall i had a positive experience, they have a wide range of wines, some which are hard to find anywhere else - the main reason i still buy from them, plus the discounts are fair and often, but... their codes for the first offer only works at the first offer, which if fine, but then why would you send me the voucher in each package i order, why spam me on the email and every time i log in on the website? this is really bothering me... then their rewards points system is useless, first of all because you only get peanuts even after spending €250 on an order, but even those peanuts will expire if you won't order again soon, which is unfair, to say the least... and lastly, if you get a corked wine, a wine with any deffect or a wine that leaked (my last order contained a bottle of $100 Caymus Cabernet with a leaking cork, which made the wine tasted cooked and flat), they have no procedure put in place for you to replace or return the wine or to get a refund or replacement - none, which is a big no no no for any wine collector... so all in all i give it 3 stars for now
