Located in La Morra, in the heart of the Barolo wine district in Piedmont, the Marengo winery owns approximately 7 hectares of vineyards spread across the region's finest crus. Since 1899, it has been producing traditional wines that express the terroir and its strong identity.
The Nebbiolo grapes come from an over-eighty-year-old vineyard located in the prestigious Brunate cru. Here, the vines enjoy a particularly favorable microclimate, with an altitude between 400 and 230 meters above sea level and soils of clay mixed with calcareous sand, with the presence of Sant'Agata marl and fossils from the Tortonian period. After fermentation in stainless steel at a controlled temperature, the wine ages for two years in barrique.
Marengo Barolo Brunate is a refined and distinctive wine with a brilliant ruby color with garnet highlights. On the nose, it reveals a broad and complex aromatic profile with notes of cherry and currant, floral scents of rose and violet, and a balsamic undertone. On the palate, it is rigorous, full-bodied, and supple, with a succulent texture and firm yet perfectly integrated tannins. It is bold yet elegant and harmonious, with a long, fresh finish. It's the ideal wine to pair with game, especially venison stew with juniper.
