Georgia’s Kakheti wine region is set between two impressive mountain ranges and marked by the Alazani River valley, creating exceptional conditions for premium winemaking. Marani winery have been operating here for over a century close to the town of Telavi and today they are experts at combining modern winemaking technology with ancient Georgian techniques.

This spectacular wine is made from frozen Rkatsiteli grapes which have been left on the vines until early December when the temperatures fall to around -10 degrees Celsius. This process allows a significant amount of water to be removed from the grapes as ice when they are pressed, concentrating the remaining sugars and flavour and aroma compounds. The juice is then fermented in stainless steel tanks and aged in the bottle for 6 months before release.

The result is a beautiful ice wine which has a perfect balance between intense sweetness and fruity flavours and aromas. On the nose and palate expect plenty of ripe pineapple, pears, zesty citrus and oranges balanced by a bright streak of acidity. The complex flavour profile of this sweet wine makes it a great partner for blue cheeses and chocolate or fruit-based desserts.
