Lucarelli is one of the finest wineries in Italy’s southern Apulia region. Inspired by the elemental forces of the sun and sea which characterise life in southern Italy and the passion of its residents, Lucarelli produces a range of powerful, full-flavoured reds made from the local Primitivo grape. To produce the best quality wine possible the estate has invested in state-of-the-art technology and works with young winemakers who have a real passion for their craft.

To produce this bottling the winery sourced fruit from top plots in Manduria and Sava which are planted with old Primitivo bush vines, some of which are a century or more old. These venerable old vines produce only a tiny yield of grapes, but the fruit that they do produce is incredibly concentrated and intensely flavoured.

On the nose there are enchanting hints of crushed wild berries, licorice and cigar box spice while the first sip reveals a full body, smooth tannins and powerful dark fruit notes which linger on the palate. The well-defined structure makes this a great match for hearty red meat dishes, although it will also age gracefully over the next 8 years or so in the cellar.
