Maison Louis Jadot was founded in Beaune in 1859 by Louis Henri Denis Jadot. Today, the estate is in the hands of the Gagey family, who manages over 150 hectares of vineyards, producing world-famous Burgundy wines.
Louis Jadot's Puligny-Montrachet is a complex and noble wine made from Chardonnay grapes from the homonymous appellation nestled between Chassagne-Montrachet to the north and Meursault to the south. Here, the vines are rooted in calcareous and clayey soils characterized by good drainage and excellent heat retention, ideal conditions for the pure expression of Chardonnay. After manual harvesting and fermentation in oak (one-third new), the wine rests on its lees for approximately 15 months.
The result is a rich and vibrant wine, the perfect ambassador of this prestigious appellation and the exceptional winemaking quality of Maison Louis Jadot. In the glass, the wine takes on a brilliant straw-yellow color. Its aromatic profile is broad and fragrant, with initial fresh fruity notes followed by toasted and spicy nuances. These flavors also return vividly on the palate. The wine is rich and elegant, with a creamy texture, a pronounced acidity, and a well-defined minerality that extends into a long finish. It's perfect with fish and seafood, but its structure also makes it also a perfect partner for poultry served with mushroom sauces.
