Louis Jadot Pommard 2023

Drink it now or cellar for up to 20 years. It is recommended to decant it for half an hour.

Located in Beaune, in the heart of France's Burgundy wine region, Maison Louis Jadot boasts a history spanning nearly two centuries. Today, the company manages over 220 hectares of vineyards and includes Château des Jacques in Beaujolais, Domaine Ferret in Fuissé, and properties in Oregon.

The Pinot Noir grapes are sourced from a vineyard in the Pommard appellation, located between Beaune to the north and Volnay to the south, an area renowned for producing exclusively red wines capable of long aging. Here, the vines benefit from an east or southeast exposure and root in predominantly clay-limestone soils. Following manual harvesting and careful selection in the winery, fermentation takes place in open-top wooden or stainless steel vats. The finished wine then matures for a year and a half in barrels (one-third new).

The result is an elegant wine with a firm structure, characterized by a broad, complex aromatic profile featuring notes of raspberry, redcurrant, cherry, and red berries, followed by hints of spice and forest floor, along with touches of leather and musk. On the palate, it is powerful, intense, concentrated, and round, with silky tannins and refreshing, well-balanced acidity. The finish is long, generous, and spicy. While this wine can evolve beautifully in the cellar for years, it is also ready to be enjoyed now alongside beef tenderloin with mushroom sauce, roast goose, or medium-aged cheeses.
