Set in the village of Milly-Lamartine in Burgundy’s Macconais sub-region, Les Héritiers du Comte Lafon was purchased by the Lafon family in 1999. The Lafons are best known for their prized Meursault wines produced at Domaine des Comtes Lafon, but thanks to the hard work of Dominique Lafon and his team over the past few decades today Les Héritiers is one of the rising stars of the Macconais.

In total the domaine has 14 hectares of prime vineyard parcels as well as plots in the Viré-Clessé appellation which they hire from Château de Viré. Since taking over the Lafon family converted the domaine to organic and biodynamic agriculture. The grapes for this bottling are sourced from a single vineyard with an average vine age of 35 years planted on limestone and clay soils. To preserve the authentic character of the terroir and variety the must is fermented with indigenous yeasts and then aged in 500 litre barrels for 9-10 months.

White peach, apricot and subtle hints of elderflower and honeysuckle immediately dominate on the nose, while the first sip reveals a bright acidity, smooth mouthfeel and medium body. The finish is long with hints of ripe tropical fruit and spicy ginger. Pair with Asian salads, roasted chicken or fish dishes served with a creamy sauce.
