This muscular Cabernet is crafted by Australia’s iconic Leeuwin Estate who are best known for their exquisite Art Series Chardonnay. Located in the country’s highly-rated Margaret River wine region, the estate was purchased in 1969 by Denis Horgan, a businessman from Perth. Three years later the legendary winemaker Robert Mondavi visited the property and recognised the potential for making exceptional wines. Thanks to low yields and an ideal microclimate, Leeuwin now produces one of Australia’s finest Chardonnays as well as some very impressive red wines.
The vineyard where the grapes for this wine are sourced is planted with the Houghton clone on sandy gravel soils. The estate picks each parcel individually and a small amount of Malbec is added to the Cabernet to add a softer texture and richer mouthfeel.
In the winery the grapes are destemmed and vinified with the young wine then matured in French oak barrels for 12 months. The nose is bursting with ripe black fruit along with hints of cocoa, leather and licorice. On the palate there is a generous full body, smooth yet firm tannins and a very long finish seasoned with baking spice and toasted oak.

overall i had a positive experience, they have a wide range of wines, some which are hard to find anywhere else - the main reason i still buy from them, plus the discounts are fair and often, but... their codes for the first offer only works at the first offer, which if fine, but then why would you send me the voucher in each package i order, why spam me on the email and every time i log in on the website? this is really bothering me... then their rewards points system is useless, first of all because you only get peanuts even after spending €250 on an order, but even those peanuts will expire if you won't order again soon, which is unfair, to say the least... and lastly, if you get a corked wine, a wine with any deffect or a wine that leaked (my last order contained a bottle of $100 Caymus Cabernet with a leaking cork, which made the wine tasted cooked and flat), they have no procedure put in place for you to replace or return the wine or to get a refund or replacement - none, which is a big no no no for any wine collector... so all in all i give it 3 stars for now
