Laughing Stock Vineyards Chardonnay 2021

This is a fantastic oaked Chardonnay, harvested from some of the finest sites in Southern Okanagan, Canada, from Okanagan Falls to Osoyoos. It is bursting with aromas of lemon meringue pie, ripe orchard fruits, and tropical hints of pineapple. It is a beautiful example of New World Chardonnay, from an underrated and often overlooked region.

Laughing Stock Vineyards was founded by Cynthia and David Enns in 2003, who made a considerable leap from the finance industry to the wine industry. While they are no longer involved in the winery, the duo played a massive role in Laughing Stock’s success. Today, the winery is in the safe hands of renowned winemaker Sandy Leier, and manager Sebastien Lafortune.

This Chardonnay begins with bright, vibrant fruit notes, including strong hints of pineapple, peach, apple and pear. This evolves into a smooth mid-palate, with classic flavours of lemon zest, brioche and toasted almonds. These toasty hints come from the fermentation process, where 78% of the grapes matured in French oak, and the remainder in egg-shaped concrete tanks. The fruit flavours and the oak influence are perfectly balanced, making this an elegant, easy-drinking example of Canadian Chardonnay. Pair it with pork, seafood, or creamy cheese.
