Located in the Papamola region of Epanomi, Greece, Ktima Gerovassiliou was founded by Vangelis Gerovassiliou who, in 1981 decided to renovate the family vineyard, build a new modern cellar and start his production of wines in this beautiful region with indigenous and international grape varieties. The first harvest of the company dates back to 1986. Since then Vangelis Gerovassiliou has embarked on new projects and expanded his properties with estates in the Kavala region in northern Greece and Skafidia in the Peloponnese.
This interesting Greek Sauvignon Blanc is produced with grapes sourced from different lots owned by Kitma Gerovassiliou. After a short period of cold maceration on the skins, the must is fermented in French oak barriques. The finished wine is then aged on its lees for a few months.
Ktima Gerovassiliou Sauvignon Blanc has a bright golden color. The nose reveals notes of tropical fruit, such as pineapple, mango, pear, and melon. On the palate, it is fresh and exuberant. Thanks to its passage in wood and its time on the lees, it is well-structured and complex with pleasant notes of toasted vanilla and excellent balance. It goes well with shellfish, fish served in a buttery sauce, poultry, and ash-covered goat cheeses.
A Birthday to Remember with DAOU & Colomé Celebrating my mother’s birthday was made even more special thanks to two incredible wines—DAOU Cabernet Sauvignon 2021 and Colomé Auténtico Malbec 2020. The star of the evening was undoubtedly the DAOU Cabernet Sauvignon. From the first sip, it enveloped us in its rich, velvety embrace. The deep dark fruit flavors, hints of cocoa, and perfectly balanced oak made every glass feel like a true indulgence. It was bold yet elegant, a wine that effortlessly brought warmth and joy to our gathering. Seeing my mother savor each sip with a smile made it all the more memorable. The Colomé Auténtico Malbec also delivered beautifully, with its pure expression of high-altitude Malbec. It was powerful, with ripe blackberries, spice, and a smooth, lingering finish—an excellent complement to the evening. These wines didn’t just enhance our meal; they became part of the celebration, elevating every toast and conversation. A heartfelt thank you to DAOU and Colomé for making this special occasion truly unforgettable!
