The pioneering Kaesler family first settled in the Barossa Valley in the 1840s and by 1893 they had planted their first vines here. Now, generations later, it is these ancient original vines which have helped put the estate on the map for top quality Shiraz. The current owners practice regenerative farming throughout the estate, a philosophy they consider to be a step beyond sustainable agriculture since it aims to leave the land better than they found it.
Old Bastard is the family’s flagship cuvee that’s named in honour of those old gnarly vines which produce the intensely concentrated fruit used for this wine. The grapes are handpicked to ensure quality in the early hours of the morning before it gets too hot. They are then vinified according to the family’s secretive winemaking methods using innovative techniques to create their impressive range of top quality Shiraz wines.
The final step is a lengthy maturation period in new and used French oak barrels, adding enticing smoky and spicy notes to the solid core of luscious dark fruit. On the palate there’s a generous full body, firm tannins, and a long finish seasoned with toast, woodsmoke, cedar, and crushed wild berries.

overall i had a positive experience, they have a wide range of wines, some which are hard to find anywhere else - the main reason i still buy from them, plus the discounts are fair and often, but... their codes for the first offer only works at the first offer, which if fine, but then why would you send me the voucher in each package i order, why spam me on the email and every time i log in on the website? this is really bothering me... then their rewards points system is useless, first of all because you only get peanuts even after spending €250 on an order, but even those peanuts will expire if you won't order again soon, which is unfair, to say the least... and lastly, if you get a corked wine, a wine with any deffect or a wine that leaked (my last order contained a bottle of $100 Caymus Cabernet with a leaking cork, which made the wine tasted cooked and flat), they have no procedure put in place for you to replace or return the wine or to get a refund or replacement - none, which is a big no no no for any wine collector... so all in all i give it 3 stars for now
