Located in Seppeltsfield, among the hills of the Barossa Valley, not far from the banks of Greenock Creek, Hentley Farm is a family-run winery founded in 1997 by Keith and Alison Hentschke. Today, the estate spans approximately 150 acres and produces a wide range of excellent wines, from international varietals such as Shiraz, Grenache, Cabernet Sauvignon, Zinfandel, and Viognier.

Shiraz grapes are sourced and hand-picked from 60-year-old vines planted in a single vineyard located in Light Pass. After harvest, 30% of the grapes are whole-cluster fermented. The finished wine then ages for a year in French oak before bottling and release.

In the glass, the wine reveals a broad and ripe aromatic profile with notes of plum and blackberry, followed by hints of licorice and spice, with final peppery and smoky touches. On the palate, it is full-bodied and powerful, rich, juicy, and concentrated. It has lively acidity and soft, well-integrated tannins. It is generous and round with a long finish that recalls notes of spice and dark fruit. It is a wine that demands pairing with succulent dishes: try it with lamb stew, pulled pork, or roast pork belly.
